Instagram got a new version, bringing you new filters and high quality photos

Instagram, the app that redefined photography on the iPhone finally got a new version, so now you have four additional filters and much bigger images. One of the biggest updates in 2.0 version of Instagram are Live Filters. In prevoius versions, you had to take a photo first and then apply some filter you like. Now simply open the app and apply filters live, before snaping a shot!

Borders are now optional, and tilt-shift function got some smaller improvements in speed. There is also a new icon, which is a slightly modified version of the old one. You can easily rotate photos within the camera as well.

Another great thing about this update is the resolution of the photographs. Former 612*612px was too small, so they’ve added resolution of 1936*1936px on iPhone 4, or 1536*1536 if you own an iPhone 3GS. It’s worth mentioning that the new Instagram won’t work on iPhone 3G.

I’m pretty new with Instagram (2 month and 306 pics later). I came to iOS after ownnig roughly 5 Android devices in a 2 year span. IMO the cameras on Android devices fall short of what is produced by iPhone cameras (exceptions being the Droid Incredible which I though was close to/on par with my IPhone 4) With that said, my only concern is woth the quality of the pictures posted by some Android users.
